The 4 disciplines of execution
The Vision:
Develop students' communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills by allowing them to explore learning and create learning products using iPad apps. I want to focus on providing students with learning opportunities that will transport them outside of the classroom, that will expose them to possibilities beyond their community. By applying what they have learned in the classroom and creating a learning product or project with a creativity app (Keynote, Pages, GarageBand, iMovie, Clips, Numbers), the possibilities to apply and expand on learning become endless. Through meaningful assignments that require students to use these apps, we will redefine learning and give students ownership and choice.
Influencer Model and The 4 Disciplines of Execution
Implementing the influencer model alongside the 4 Disciplines of Execution will bring forth guaranteed success to my organization. After completing my version of the Influencer model directed toward my desired change, I thought the 4DX model wasn't very different (I had only read about 4DX). Fortunately, after trying to apply each discipline in 4DX to my desired change, I realized that they connect while addressing different things. The influencer model focuses more on "why," while the 4DX model focuses on a very detailed "how." My approach to the influencer model concentrate on preparing my teammates with the skills needed to launch the 4 Disciplines. I think that in my case, one cannot succeed without the other. In my influencer approach, I focus on providing my colleagues with the experiences that will motivate them to want to implement iPad apps in their classrooms and with the knowledge to teach their students how to use these apps.
Consequently, 4DX builds on that and focuses on executing the vital behaviors. Furthermore, the measures and vital behaviors go hand in hand with the lag and lead measures. Both of these approaches require action; one sets up the other.
